Dasrath Bhavan Ayodhya

Dasrath Bhavan is located near the Ramkatha Park in Ayodhya, about 2 km away from the main Hanuman Garhi area.

Attraction – This place is believed to be the site of the ancient palace of King Dasaratha, the father of Lord Rama as per Hindu mythology. Some ruins of the old palace can be seen here.

Structure – The main structure is a simple two-storey building constructed in 2002 to commemorate the palace. It has a small museum on the life of Lord Rama.

Museum – The museum displays stone carvings, models and paintings related to the Ramayana epic and Lord Rama’s life. Some key exhibits are models of Lord Rama’s coronation, forest exile hut, etc.

Timings – The museum is open from 9 AM to 5 PM. It remains closed on Mondays.

Entry Fee – There is no entry fee to visit this memorial building and museum.

Nearby Attractions – Some of the other places near Dasrath Bhavan are Ramkatha Art Gallery, Kanak Bhavan temple, Tulsi Smarak Bhawan.

How to Reach – One can take a taxi, auto rickshaw, cycle rickshaw or shared vans to reach Dasrath Bhavan from Ayodhya Junction railway station which is around 5 km away.

Accommodation – There are a few budget hotels and lodges near Dasrath Bhavan for stay. Alternatively, one can stay in hotels in main Ayodhya town area.
